Day Three: Heading to old Hyw 99

Someone phoned the Holiday Inn and told them I was coming.  Look at the bathroom of the room they put us in last night.  Kaye said it was great for shaving her legs. More reno's to do when I get home I guess.  Which one of you is responsible for this!

When we checked in today in Modesto, guess what, we were put into another Handicap room.  I am not complaining but I want to know who is responsible for hacking my Rewards Profile !

Bbbbrrrr.  Crisp and cold in the foothills this morning.  We had to climb 3900ft and cruise past Mt Shastna.  In 2010 we drove this road in Sep and then took Hwy 44 over to Reno.  That road climbed through the mountains and National Parks.  It was lots of fun to drive.  Today I had fun pushing the truck on the hills and Kaye was much more comfortable on the I5 freeway than the mountain trek 44.  She did not like being able to see over the side of the non existent guard rails and into the ravines.

Here are some shots of rural California.  It is 'For Sale or Lease'.  We Canadians should pool our pennies (before they are gone) and just 'buy' America, vice buying American.

Kyle is becoming the spoiled guy on this trip.  Because of him, we are always on the look out for places to run and play.  He travels so well and Kaye even climbs into the back seat and snuggles with him.  At one of the rest stops there was about 200 trees.  After all these years you can imagine the number of 'pees' and smells.  He exhausted his writing utensil in about 10 minutes but kept up lifting his non existent leg on tree after tree until we forced him back into the truck.

We have discovered that Kyle is a bird dog.  He now chases them regularly.  I thought it was just ducks but anything that flys makes him chase them.
Kyle found us a free TV.  Was going to bring it home but no room in the truck.
We think these are olive tree/bushes.  There were 100's of acres of these today lining the highway on both sides.  Along with miles of orange trees and countless other types of fruit trees/plants/shrubs that we could not identify as they are just starting to blossom.

If you know what these are, please tell us.

Tomorrow we have to knuckle down and put in about 6+ hrs of driving but luckily the Holiday Inn today has a nice outdoor hot tub and a very beautiful room so it is 'Nighty night'.  Oh and don't forget our nice handicap bathroom.
